FASHION: Objects, Concepts & Visions

Walking the Line between Craft and Tech: New Positions in Austrian Fashion Design

The exhibition is thematically linked to the very successful special exhibition ReFashioning Austria, held in Shanghai’s Liu Haisu Art Museum in December 2016, and focuses on contemporary works. With the exhibition location of Berlin in mind, the selection is supplemented with new works and encompasses around 40 positions of fashion designers and artists.

The exhibition will showcase the experimental and ready-to-wear, textile art, jewellery, accessories, photography and digital art; with the exhibits located at the passing boundaries of design and art.

The exhibition, commissioned by the Bundeskanzleramt Österreich, Art and Culture department, is organised by AUSTRIANFASHION.NET, with its curator Claudia Rosa Lukas.

Wiener Schmucktage

The ever popular and wonderfully inspiring Wiener Schmucktage are back with another edition of their city-wide celebration of jewellery. Over 150 Austrian and international jewellery craftsmen will present their works and their craft, opening studios and taking over 28 different places in the Austrian capital. Spanning from innovative auteur jewellery to object art, upcycled and recycled pieces, or 3D and kinetic designs, the six day long festival brings together the best on the current scene. Also being a great way to discover the city, we recommend you study the programme and join in on as many of the planned activities as possible!
